Beerfest Be Not Held

The Polish beer market: it's dominated by native brands such as Zywiec, Tyskie, Lech, Okocim and Warka. Cheaper brands such as Krolewskie and Tatra also are on tap. There's no real shortage of brand variety here; there's only one problem: they all pretty much suck.
If you're a fan of light, tasteless beer, Poland has plenty to offer. From the pathetically mild Lech to the non-taste-bud-stimulating Tyskie, Poland has it all. The most widely available beers run the gamut from light lager to pilsner; much like Busch, Miller, Coors, and the much-sneered at, Budweiser.
I find it odd that here they are quick to condemn Budweiser (and all other American beers, which I also condemn. Sam Adams and Harpoon really are the best I've had so far.) But reality is harsh and Zywiec is just as bad as Budweiser; Tyskie is only slightly better, but it's still just a slightly-chilled glass of banality. Until I find a properly brewed ale or stout, I'm enjoying the good-neighborly German Paulaner.

Note: These breweries most certainly brew other types of beer, it's just that I haven't procured them yet and they don't seem to be very popular.

Perła is for you.

I haven't found it in the stores yet. But I will buy it and leave my opinion of it.

Zywiec is really good one. I would not say that Tyskie is the best beer I have ever tried, however, in Poland is really popular. I heard that it has beed sold to Sabmiller by Kulczyk Holding

Right, I also wanted to write about Perła ;-) It's one of rare Polish beers from outside of three major beer companies, that indeed produce a standardised liquid without much personality. But Perła (pearl) is available mostly in eastern regions.

"Zywiec is just as bad as Budweiser"

Right after reading this sentence I realized that you're not credible. There is a HUGE difference between Budweiser and Zywiec.

I've yet to find Perla here in Warsaw, but I'll keep looking.

—Anonymous: typical Polish reaction. Zywiec and Budweiser are both exceptionally bland (only outdone by Miller and Coors.)
And by the way, I didn't say that they were the same, I said that they were just as bad each other (which they are.)

Zubr anyone?????????? Fantastic!

Zubr? Fantastic? That's a pretty low standard you're using there.

What a ridiculous article! It's only one persons perspective. You don't like Polish beer then that's just your opinion. Saying all Polish beers are rubbish is simply stupid.

Maybe Polish beer shouldn't suck so much. Then I wouldn't have to write inflammatory articles about it.

I really have to agree, i was thirsty and searching the fridge and all i could find was this 'zywiec' can thats been deserted in there for weeks - my first thought was "ughhh one of those polish beers", i just poured it and my tastebuds agree - and prompted me to google 'Why do polish beers suck?'. This isnt the first ive had, they all have that same bad taste common of most polish/german beers, its gross.
